Comment:
Our weekend at Zanzibar was perfect; from the friendliness of staff on arrival, the delicious food in Pier Nine, the champagne breakfasts, the beautiful Japan theme room and of course that deep-soak spa bath all with a backdrop of February snowfall outside the window (Thanks for arranging that by the way!) our only dilemma is what room to stay in next time.

This is the second time my partner and I have stayed at the Zanzibar international and we are likely to go again. Each room gives you a different experience and view. The staff are welcoming and helpful to the nth degree, your every need is catered for and the rooms are just as described on the website (& sometimes more!). They also have a restaurant which is fully booked most nights, not just by guests, giving you the option of enjoying your stay to the fullest. I have recommend this hotel to friends for any occasion, as the main outcome is relaxation and a sense of being pampered.

Comment: My wife works shifts and had to work the day after her birthday so we wanted to get away for just one night and spend the day (15 February) somewhere nice. We eventually managed to book the one night (14 February) at 'Zanzibar'. We didn't want to eat in the hotel two nights on the trot and with a late booking we were never going to get the Pier Nine for Valentines Day anyway. We tried, and very much enjoyed, one of the local recommendations. Back to ‘Zanzibar’. It was heaving. Piano playing the ladies with their roses and the staff running around keeping customers happy. Incredibly busy but an incredible crew. Slept very well in a comfortable room and down for our breakfast in the morning. WOW! Service was excellent, food even better! We had booked a table for the evening with friends and again the food was to die for and the service exemplary. For B&B this hotel is better than excellent and the value for money ratio is off the scale. We rather pushed the boat out for the birthday dinner which naturally pushed the cost up a bit too. An extraordinary place, excellent value and definitely a place we will return to time and again - we want to try the other rooms and the garden too.

Comment: We stayed in the India room which had the largest bed we've ever slept on! By far the best facility in the room was the Jacuzzi bath, an absolute treat! We would absolutely recommend the Pier Nine restaurant downstairs and you couldn't beat the breakfast, which was brought to our room free of charge. We will definitely be coming back and look forward to trying out a sea view room next time and the excellent service.

Comment: We booked Zanzibar the week before we went and were so happy to have chosen this place!
We stayed in Morocco which was absolutely stunning. The room wasn't too over crowed with things and the decor was spot on.
We felt at home the whole time and were welcomed by staff as soon as we got there, verbally and with some complimentary Champagne!
The breakfast was superb and nothing was missing or over/under cooked... The dining room overlooks the sea and the whole room just makes you relax.
Exceptional value for money, I can't think of one thing that was negative and will definitely be going back .

Comment: This is a fantastic boutique hotel on the prom, within easy walking distance of the old town and attractions, make an effort to speak to the elderly guide in the RNLI boathouse, full of wonderful tales. The breakfasts were delicious and the coconut yoghurt served with the fruit bowl, we will try at home. The penthouse - Manhattan suite, has everything you can wish for, an aquarium coffee table meant we spent ages gazing at the fish and the juke box was a treat - we want one, large range dvd\'s and books available to borrow! Free newspaper delivered to the door along with suggestion of where to go and a local weather forecast. Fantastic sea views, cleanliness and lovely staff make for a wonderful stay - would thoroughly recommend the Zanzibar to anyone. Huge thank you for making my birthday memorable. Thanks Pete & Gail.

Comment: I discovered the Zanzibar Hotel by chance several years ago but this was the first opportunity that I had to actually stay as a guest. We booked the Manhattan loft suite and to be honest it's impossible to fault the hotel, the facilities, the excellent breakfast, the service, in fact anything. I would say if anything that the Zanzibar excelled my expectations in every way!! I will definitely return as soon as possible.

Comment: We stayed for two days on a special deal that included an evening meal. The room was gorgeous a real sanctuary with a stunning bathroom. Even though it was late in the year we were lucky enough to see the sun streaming in the window in the morning. We ate in the first night, shame we were the only guests staying that did that evening. The food was amazing, really fresh and tasted wonderful. We had breakfast in the room delivered when we requested by the nicest waiters, so polite. The old town is well worth a look around. Everyone was so helpful nothing was too much trouble. We would love to go back and try a different room.
This is a very special hotel, a little gem, brilliant for a romantic, relaxing few days. Hope to return soon.

Room: South America
Stay: November 2011
Comment: We stayed in South America, which is the main front room on the first floor looking straight at the seafront. The superking bed was amazingly comfortable with great pillows and the softest cotton sheets and duvet. The bath was wonderful and even though there isn't a shower, the handheld attachment allowed for a nice spritz in the bath. The hotel has lots of thoughtful touches, such as reasonably priced mini-bar drinks and snacks, free DVDs (all the greats) and welcome drinks. The food is fantastic and I would recommend NOT eating anywhere else. We ate out on the second night at Webbe\'s seafood restaurant and deeply regretted it. The menu caters really well for vegetarians and breakfast is delicious with locally sourced ingredients and bakery bread. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the atmosphere very relaxed!

Comment: My wife surprised me by booking a few nights away along the coast and out of the other 2 boutique hotels we stayed at this was the best. We stayed in the South America suite which was picture perfect, pure luxury. The entire hotel had a laid back feel which was very homely. We ate at the Tajmahal which was fantastic then made use of the DVD library. The hotel is filled with interesting items from around the world so even the walk to your room is fun. The mini bar and in room facilities are well thought out and the Breakfast was simply 5 star. Not a bad word to say especially as My wife is now determined to sleep in every room of this beautiful oasis.

For us The Zanzibar is exactly that , the room was outstanding the attention to detail was first class , the staff was more than helpful , the champagne breakfast served to our room was a nice touch .. We did also eat in the restaurant downstairs one night and again was faultless not only the food but again the setting inside and out .. Comment: Quite simply the best hotel we have ever stayed in. A very friendly welcome from the whole team including a glass of bubbly- just what the doctor ordered after a Friday night on the M25!
We were staying in the South America room, which turned out to be every bit as glamorous as the photos show. Massive bed, double jacuzzi bath, and all incredibly clean and tidy. Fantastic nights sleep and an even better breakfast served in our room at a time suitable to us. Brilliant!
I had a few reservations about the location before we came due to some other reviews on the internet, but I really can't see what they did?! Perfect seafront location with good parking. The town centre is only 10 minutes away with a good few restaurants to try. We didn't have time to try the new restaurant in the hotel but it looked lovely.
All in all a fantastic romantic trip away, completely unforgettable.

We had a fantastic weekend staying in the Japan room. The attention to detail was amazing and we particularly enjoyed the Japanese spa bath! Food wise - we had dinner on our first night in the restauant and after a 6 hour journey down from the Midlands(!) managed to totally un-wind and enjoy a fabulous meal. The food was truly delicious!
Also having breakfast each morning in the garden was such a treat and a wonderful start to each day (particularly with a glass of Bucks Fizz!). Again the attention to detail and quality of food was superb.
Thank you so much for a truly memorable stay.

Comment: 'My partner and I stayed at the Zanzibar in the Manhattan suite for two nights at the end of June this year (2011). We had a fabulous time. The warm welcome from the staff was great. The information in the room and the facilities were fantastic. Comfortable big bed, double bath in the bedroom and a double shower in the bathroom. Juke box, coffee table fish tank, two tvs. Too much to do and not enough time. All of this and lovely views out to sea as well. And if you manage to leave your room, Hastings old town is well worth a visit. Thanks again for a great stay.

Comment: We stayed in the Manhattan room for my husbands 40th, it was fantastic from start to finish.
The staff were very welcoming, the bed was so comfortable and breakfast was delightful.
The only thing that was disappointing was the bath was described as a hot tub bath, so i was expecting bubbles, where in fact it was just a deep seated bath.
We are planning another stay later in the year.

The rooms were fantastic, we had a look at another one on our way out so that gave us thoughts as to which room to stay in next time! We will defintely be back. Waking up and hearing the sea outside was lovely, the breakfast was brilliant too. The whole stay really made my boyfriend's birthday that little bit better! |

Comment: Stunning views from our room. The steam shower was amazing!! Loved the hotel and the warm welcome. Had the best curry from the Taj Mahal which is a few minutes away and a great lunch in the Dragon Bar in the Old Town. Overall Hastings itself wasn't our cup of tea but the hotel more than made up for that and is a great little haven which has been lovingly created. The welcome you get is fantastic. Certainly a great place to hole up for a romantic weekend.

Comment: Me and my partner only stayed one night in the Japan room but we loved it. As soon as we entered the hotel and waited in the garden, we were taken by the look and charm of the hotel. We were shown to our room and checked in very easily. Max was very friendly as was the other staff. The room was amazing, I loved the furniture and theme of the room, the spa bath was especially our favorite thing. The hotel has the essentials you need such as the bar down stairs which you help yourself too and add to your bill on checkout. i loved the garden lit up at night, the whole hotel has been very well put together and a lot of thought and effort has gone to making it and unforgettable stay. The breakfast served to us in the morning before leaving was tasty and good quality, it was a treat to be able to have it in the garden. Absolutely fabulous hotel and next time we visit we will stay in the Manhattan room! Many thanks to Max and his team, you made mine and my partners 4 years anniversary perfect.

Fabulous stay, the little touches make this hotel somewhere we are coming back too. The quality of the food, service, decor and staff makes you feel like you are somewhere special, which you are. For what you are paying the value is amazing. Hastings new town is not great however Hastings old town is a smaller version of the Brighton lanes making it perfect for a quiet stroll, great little restaurants and hopefully in the sun. Thank you for an amazing couple of days.

We stayed at the penthouse suite (Manhattan) that was one of the loveliest rooms we ever stayed in: very quiet with spectacular view, very modern (high tech) AND romantic room with 2 flat screen TVs, a jukebox (!) and even an aquarium with fishes, serving as coffee table... Staff was also very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast! Very good restaurants nearby, ask Max!

The hotel certainly lived up to it's billing, from the very warm welcome, to the fantastic room (South America) and the great breakfasts. After arriving later than expected , we had a warm welcome along with a drink ,a quick run through of running of the hotel. Then taken to our India room. What a delight. Breakfast was lovely ,what a choice & where to eat it. Nothing was too much bother, even down to directions to a vineyard. Cleanliness & tidiness was on par with a 5 star hotel. Highly recommended. A most enjoyable experience. Very friendly hosts, which is what all the staff were. Our room was rather small but contained all we needed we chose to take breakfast in the dining room which overlooked the sea, most guests chose to eat outside in the rear terraced garden. Our room opened directly onto the garden but we chose the view. We visited Bexhill (De la Warr Pavilion), Battle & Rye & Hastings Old town during our stay.

Comment: Wonderfully relaxing weekend away from it all with everything taken care of for us. I found the hotel by chance and decided to book it for a break for my partner's birthday. Choosing which room to book was probably the most difficult thing, but once chosen everything else was simple. The welcome and assistance on arrival was genuine and the welcome drink was much appreciated. The room was fabulous with everything you could want and more, breakfast was delicious and hot despite the 3 storey climb to our room. Everything had been thought of, friendliness was genuine and the attention to detail was very good.

Comment: This was our first night away as a couple, and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The staff are wonderfully laid-back, which instantly puts you into a comfortably relaxed mood. The room decor was beautiful, with sun drenched views of the sea front. The "honesty bar" added to the overall feel of the hotel, and the breakfast could not have been any better. Fantastic 1 night break. We stayed at the hotel for one night but it felt like two. You would never guess such place was hidden amongst the sea front. I proposed to my fiancee, with the sun shining into the beautiful room. Everything was spotless and cosy with the decor very soothing. The bed was luxurious with a view of the sea and TV to one side. Bathroom was also very nice and the jet shower a great novelty with, with the mood lighting. Breakfast was delish! Would definitely go back again, hopefully soon.

I am just writing to say that Jason and I had a truly wonderful time staying in your lovely hotel this weekend. We stayed in South America and couldn't recommend highly enough.
The hotel has been furnished with beautiful taste, it is quiet and very peaceful, but only a 10min walk to Hastings town. The service was exceptional making our stay really special. We were made to feel that Zanzibar was home rather than a hotel. An experience many hotels try but few manage to achieve.
I will definitely be recommending your fabulous hotel to others.
Thank you for making our weekend so special.

I just wished to take some time out and thank you for a most enjoyable stay in your hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted in person, and given a personal tour of the hotel, along with an explanation of all facilities. The member of staff was polite, friendly, open and welcoming. The room....well what can I say! Wow! It was beautifully designed, comfortable and very personal. The in-room facilites were exceptional, and no expense spared. The breakfasts were amazing, with a fantastic range....so much so, I didn't and probably couldn't sample all of the options available. The atmosphere itself was extremely friendly, laid back and relaxed. In short, this has been one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, and for what you get, a bargain in my opinion. I will definately be recommending The Zanzibar Internation to all of my friends and colleagues, and will myself, be planning another visit again soon. I simply must sample all of your rooms!! Once again, a massive thank you for a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to visiting again soon.

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. We stayed in the South America room which was huge, it had a great spa in the room and a lovely king size bed. Views over the water. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There is a really good Gurka Nepalese restaurant nearby the hotel for dinner. We stayed in and watched DVD's ... only change we would suggest is to mount the TV on the wall so we could both watch it from bed more easily as there is no sofa in the room.

After a terrible journey around the M25 where the world and his dog appeared to be travelling in the same direction as us, we arrived at the Zanzibar to a lovely warm welcome by Robyn who forced (only joking!) a cold glass of bubbly down us while we caught some rays in their little back garden.
Eager to see our room, Moonlit Manhattan, we took the journey up the 78 (yes, I repeat 78) stairs to our suite at the top of the hotel. After taking on board more oxygen(!) "WOW" were the only words uttered by my husband and I for a few moments as we took in the wonderful room. I was especially excited about having our own juke-box and promptly ignored my husband for a few hours while I spun a few old time classics! Having the extra space with our own kitchen and living room was really nice and the double aspect views meant that it was lovely, bright and airy. The bath was...let's say, interesting. A kind of hot-tub for two but indoors which fills up from the ceiling. A nice unique way of not having to take up too much space I guess. Not sure about the glass dining table which doubled up as a fish tank. I think we frightened the lives out of the fish everytime we put our glass down!
As the hotel has no restaurant, we had been recommended to eat at the local fish restaurant called Pomegranate. It's about a 25/30 min walk along the sea-front into the old bit of town. Unfortunately for the restaurant it's opposite a rather kicking pub called 'Revolver' and as it was nice night, everyone was outside drinking and generally having a bit of a riot. Not quite the ambience I had imagined however once inside, the restaurant was full to bursting and we quickly ignored the pub crowds. Joanna was a lovely front of house person; charming and knowledgable. However, her husband, Jamie, needs a few more tips on how to be nice to clients!! Walking back to the hotel in the dark proved a different experience...
Right, let's talk beds! This bed was amazingly comfy. I normally have to have my own pillow where-ever I go but this time my trusty old friend never made it out of the suit-case! Super King means a decent nights sleep for both - another plus of course. Breakfast was divine! I think you can really rate a hotel on its standard of full English and Zanzibar delivered and then some. Quality & quanity were perfect. It's included in the room price so they could be a tendency to scrimp but they didn't and I think this speaks volumes. All in all, I would have to say that if you put the surroundings aside, then this hotel is exactly what most couples look for in a bolt-hole. Service, attention to detail, uniqueness, comfort and quality. Well done Max and well done Robyn - thank you for your hospitality and thanks for a great stay.
PS. No worries about car parking. They provide a free, secure space in a local underground place nearby.
