Pier Nine - Our fabulous new restaurant is now open!
What The Papers are Saying:"This world class boutique hotel is delighted to announce the opening of its fabulous new restaurant, Pier Nine. The Zanzibar Hotel aims to make the most of its stunning seafront location and glorious sea views with a stylish yet relaxed dining experience.
The Restaurant combines classic Victorian elegance with contemporary ‘beach chic’. Bold deck-chair stripe fabrics, thick, white-washed drift-wood tables, a gorgeous white baby-grand piano, all set against calm white walls adorned with big decorative mirrors and menu boards showing the morning’s catch of fresh fish.
The perfect setting has been created in which to enjoy the culinary know-how of the Pier Nine team. Ben Krikorian, the head-chef, is young and hungry. He works with a passion that is evident in the visual presentation and flavour of everything that leaves the kitchen. From mature Sussex fillet steak to toad in the hole made with award winning local sausages, (not to mention delicious vegetarian options), each dish is produced with love, and delivered by friendly waitresses who are more than happy to recommend a particular wine or just stop for a chat!
The small but perfectly formed cocktail bar and gorgeous tropical garden complete the experience beautifully. Max O’Rourke, The hotel owner and designer has clearly found another winning formula.

If you're heading out we have 3 little gems that you would only know about if you lived here. The decor might not be fancy, and in the TajMahal you won't understand the waiter(!), but for great food at a great price, these places are unbeatable.
1). TajMahal South Indian Cuisine 01424 431501 www.tajmahalfoods.co.uk
The best food we've tasted outside of India. Indian family run. Watch them add the spices and cook the food as they go. This place is about 3 minutes walk from the hotel so we go here all the time and are yet to spend more than a tenner.
2). The Dragon Bar 01424 423688
Cool, relaxed atmosphere and good, seasonal food guaranteed. Old Skool DJs spinning eclectic music. Situated in the old part of town approx 20 minutes walk from the hotel. Not possible to book - Have a drink at the bar while you wait for a table. Also, eat early at the weekend as it gets too busy to eat in comfort after about 7:30pm. Approx £20 / head with a shared bottle of wine.
3). Boulevard Books Thai Restaurant 01424 436521
This is a really unique dining experience! A second hand book shop by day; an authentic Thai restaurant by night. Nestled in the quaint old part of town, (approx 20 minutes walk from the hotel) this husband and wife team serve a small but varied menu using the freshest ingredients to create the best Thai food we've had outside of Thailand. Take your own booze. £15 / head. Genius!
